Adult Results:

Kent Men's 2 lost to Hartley 3.
Kent Men's 4 lost to Meopham 2.

Thanks to all members who represented the club over the weekend.  7 fixtures this weekend, so please check the fixture list inside the clubhouse or on the website. Good luck to all members who are playing.

SHLTC Mixed Doubles Tournament.  Our annual club mixed doubles tournament on Sunday saw records being broken once again!  16 pairs took part (a club record) and it was wonderful to see all 6 courts in use.  We were extremely lucky with the weather and the level of tennis did not disappoint.  Thank you to all those members who took part and also to those members and friends of the club who came along to show their support for the players.  I know it was much appreciated.

A special mention to Mylan Roberts, who took part for the first time and was one of our newest intermediate members to play in one of our adult competitions.  Hopefully a few more of our intermediate members will do the same in our upcoming doubles and singles tournaments.

A massive thank you and well done to Luke House for running the tournament on the day.  I thought he did a fantastic job, as i'm sure you will all agree.  4 box leagues were completed with the top 2 pairs going through to the main quarter finals and the bottom 2 pairs going through to the plate quarter final.  This gave all players an extra match at the quarter final stage.  The semi finals then took place, which were at an extremely high level of tennis.

Results as follows:

Main semi final 1: Kate Green & Jon Pitchford beat Karen Attard and Dave Harrild.
Main semi final 2: Jane Zinopoulos & Dave McGonigle beat Diana Roberts & Mylan Roberts.

Plate semi final 1: Clover Whipps-Townsend & Dan House beat Karen Smith & Matt Snow.
Plate semi final 2: Holly Rowland & Tom Sippy beat Anthea Yeung & Jan Are Mo.

As you can see we are in for a treat on finals day in both the main and plate mixed doubles this year!  Thank you to all members once again and it was great to see all the matches being played in the correct competitive yet sporting spirit we like to see within the club.

SHLTC Doubles & Singles Tournaments: Please note, the men's and ladies doubles sign up sheet for Sunday 12th June and men's and ladies singles sign up sheet for Sunday 26th June are up in the clubhouse.  Please do not miss out!

American Tournament: Sunday 29th May 2-4pm.  The sign up sheet is inside the clubhouse.  Please sign up asap to avoid missing out, as spaces are limit.  As always Ron Cooper is looking forward to seeing you all there.

Great British Tennis Weekend (GBTW): Sunday 15th May 4-7pm.  Please note, all 6 courts will be in use during this period as we welcome our local community and local schools to come along to try tennis for free.  Fingers crossed we get good weather on the day.  If any members wish to come along to support the Board of Directors and coaching team, please let me know, as more help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

Club Captain

Phil Layfield.
